Spring Half & Full Day Meditation Retreat

What will you discover spending time in silence? With the noise and distraction of our busy lives, it can be difficult to find the space to quieten our minds and enjoy the full wonder of the world around you.

Join retreat facilitator Alex Carr for a friendly and relaxed meditation retreat. It’s the perfect opportunity to deeply reconnect with your mindfulness practice, settle your mind, and to meet other practitioners. All experience levels are welcome, from beginner to more experienced meditators. Everyone can get something out of this retreat.

WHAT THE RETREAT INVOLVES

We will meet at 8.45am at the Home of Compassion in Island Bay. This gives us enough time to get settled before the retreat begins 9am with a short discussion about how the day will go. The meditation will consist of a mix of walking and seated meditation, alternating between sitting for 30 minutes and walking for 30 minutes.

There are two options for attending this retreat: Half day (9am–12.30pm) or Full day (9am–4.30pm). The meditation session will begin around 9.30am. We will break for morning tea at 11am, for lunch at 12.30pm when the half day session ends, and at 2.30pm for afternoon tea. Please bring your own lunch, but morning and afternoon tea will be provided.

WHAT TO BRING

Bring whatever you need to have a comfortable meditation session! Feel free to bring a meditation cushion and blanket if that is part of your practice, although there are chairs that we use for meditation provided in the room. Morning tea will be provided. There is space to walk inside, but if the weather is fine we encourage you to walk outside in the beautiful grounds of the Home of Compassion, so bring your woolies to wrap up in.

THIS RETREAT IS OFFERED WITHOUT A FIXED FEE

The generosity of donations enables us to run these retreats without a fixed fee, but we do ask that everyone provides a deposit of $40 on registration to secure your place. If you are only staying for half the day, please deposit $30. Make your deposit into: One Mindful Breath, 38 9019 0064662 03 with your last name as a reference. On the day, you will have your $30/$40 returned to you. You can then make the choice of whether you want to give that money to One Mindful Breath, the retreat facilitator or both as a donation (dāna). You are welcome to give as much or as little as you want.
