Join us for our weekly meditation meetup. We'll be meditating together as a group, before having a brief open discussion on ideas in Ron Purser's new book 'McMindfulness'.
In the book, Purser argues that a “stripped down, secular technique” of mindfulness used in corporate retreats not just fails to serve to awaken people and organisations from “the unwholesome roots of greed, ill will and delusion, it is usually being refashioned into a banal, therapeutic, self-help technique that can actually reinforce those roots”.
We'll have copies of an excerpt from the book available, but you'll get more out of the evening if you read the excerpt before hand. You can find it at: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2019/jun/14/the-mindfulness-conspiracy-capitalist-spirituality
There's also an interesting interview with the author at: https://www.thenation.com/article/ron-purser-mcmindfulness-mindfulness-meditation-book-interview/
Doors open at 7:15pm, we start at 7:30, and our evening together ends with tea and biscuits. No registration is needed for this event – simply turn up! Please note that there is no fixed fee for this event, but dana (donations) are gratefully accepted.
