Don’t “ban the brain” – cultivate the mind

  • The Quaker Centre 7 Moncrieff Street Wellington, Wellington, 6011 New Zealand

Too often people come along to a meditation session and tell us that they cannot meditate because they’re not able to stop the thoughts in their mind. This isn’t what meditation is about, we tell them. It’s about how we respond to what goes on in the mind.

This week, Ramsey Margolis will lead the meditation session and follow that with a session of recollection. No booking required, just turn up with a notepad and pen/cil.

The Secular Mindfulness Saturday session at the Home of Compassion will be discussed as well as following week’s study group.

A meditation session lasts 40 minutes and we follow it with a few minutes to recollect and, if we want, journal what happened during our meditation.

COMING TOGETHER TO MEDITATE, TALK AND LAUGH

We then discuss how things went during the session and other matters related to mindfulness, meditation, and a secular approach to the Buddha’s teachings.
